For over three decades, the Center for Architecture has developed vibrant and unique educational opportunities for students and families, helping them explore the rich history of New York City’s architecture and urban landscape and imagine their own ideas for improving our built environment. This giving season, we hope you will consider donating to the Annual Education Fund, which sustains this important work.
Outreach to underserved populations is an integral part of our mission to engage the full breadth of New York City’s communities. Our high-quality art and design education experiences help develop young people’s understanding of the built environment, increase teachers’ ability to use design education to enrich core subjects, and introduce students to careers in architecture and design.
Your contribution to the Annual Education Fund brings critical funding to our K-12 programs. Much of the funds we raise also go to empowering underserved communities across New York City, as part of our commitment to diversify the field of architecture. Your 100% tax-deductible contribution allow us to offer subsidized fees to partner schools and scholarships to individual students.
With your support this school year, we expect to serve over 5,500 youth and adults through a carefully curated slate of programs designed to meet a wide range of ages and interests, including:
- Learning By Design:NY classroom residencies in 20 schools, 35% of which are low-income schools that require program discounts to participate
- Student Day workshops, welcoming over 1,500 students and teachers to the Center to explore architecture, engineering, and urban planning concepts through hands-on challenges
- Training workshops in architecture and design for hundreds of after-school educators in underserved communities throughout the city, with follow-up activities for students led by our educators through our NYC Department of Youth & Community Development Capacity Building program
- The return of our Building Connections exhibition of student work, opening at the Center on February 16, 2023
- Over 50 unique youth and family programs, ranging from introductory weekend Family Day workshops to two-week, pre-college summer studios for high school students, with need-based scholarships expanding our audience to all interested students regardless of ability to pay.
With your partnership, our K-12 programs can empower a future generation of architects and designers with knowledge that will lead to better-designed, more equitable spaces across the city.
