Special Initiatives

Imagine a world where young minds are inspired by the capabilities of architecture, where the foundations of creativity are laid, and the seeds of design innovation are sown. For the past 20 years, the Center for Architecture has been dedicated to fostering this very environment—a place where the rich history of New York City’s architecture and urban landscape is an immersive journey for students and families.
This giving season, we invite you to donate to the Annual Education Fund, which sustains these educational initiatives and allows us to continue sharpening the minds of the next generation. We believe in reaching out to every corner of New York City, ensuring that art and design education is accessible to all, especially underserved populations. By doing so, we not only foster an appreciation for the built environment but also open doors to a world of possibilities for young minds.
Your contribution to the Annual Education Fund plays a pivotal role in making this vision a reality by supporting K-12 programs, subsidized fees to partner schools, and scholarships. With your support this school year, we expect to serve over 3,000 students through a carefully curated slate of programs which span a wide range of ages and interests.
Your support during the 2023-24 school year will enable the Center for Architecture to achieve the following:
- In-school Learning By Design residencies at over 30 schools, serving over 90 classes
- Specialized training for CFA educators from District 75 staff to better support students across New York City Public Schools
- Teen workshops to examine architectural model-making, historic preservation, and SoHo architecture, among other topics
- Summer programs for 400 youths, on topics such as skyscrapers, treehouses, and public art
- Over 1,000 participants in youth and family workshops, on topics ranging from a celebration of New York City to the anniversary of the Brooklyn Bridge
- Additional family workshops at community sites in collaboration with the District 75 Saturday Arts Academy
- The annual Building Connections exhibition of student work, slated for October 2024
Join us in building a future where creativity knows no bounds and love for design transcends socioeconomic barriers. Your donation to the Annual Education Fund is not just a contribution; it’s an investment in the architects, designers, and creative thinkers of tomorrow. With your support, we look forward to inspiring, educating, and shaping this next generation.
