Despite the challenges of the pandemic, the Center for Architecture and its educators have been able to successfully deliver the signature K-12 programs. Following the outbreak, our education team quickly adapted to this “new normal,” revamping design projects so they could be easily completed at home and offering programs to students virtually.

During the 2020-2021 school year, your support, during the 2020-21 school year enabled us to serve 49 classes through our now-remote Learning by Design:NY program, which brings architecture and design residencies to NYC public schools, one third of which were Title One schools.

After-school programming expanded from 6 to 18 classes and engaged students who had no arts opportunities as part of their curriculum.

In early 2020, the Architecture at Home program began and since then, our educators increased the free workshops linked to online resources, reaching a total of 550 students across NYC, nationally, and internationally.

Of the 50 classes offered through our Student Day workshops, two thirds of which focused on green architecture and sustainable design and were hosted at Title I schools.

In an effort to continue to introduce students to careers in the industry, we held a Virtual Architecture & Design College Fair with 54 schools and 360 students nationwide.

We were thrilled to welcomed students back to the Center for 13 in-person 2021 Summer programs, while continuing to offer 15 classes online. Even remotely, we are seeing first-hand how we can ignite a passion for architecture, design, urban planning, engineering, and art in the minds of students.

The Center for Architecture needs your support now more than ever. A gift to the Annual Education Fund will help provide us with the resources to continue to serve our communities throughout the pandemic while helping us prepare to reopen our doors in the Fall.

The Center for Architecture is also committed to diversifying the field of architecture. Much of the funds we raise go to empowering underserved communities across New York City. Your 100% tax-deductible contribution will help us fund scholarships to reach those families.
