On 05.21.13, the Center for Architecture Foundation held its annual Guess-A-Sketch drawing competition and benefit. This non-traditional cocktail party featured an architecture-themed, Pictionary-style game as its centerpiece.
Charles Renfro, AIA, acted as MC for the night and Morris Adjmi, AIA, Guy Geier, FAIA, Wendy Evans Joseph, FAIA, and Christopher Sharples, AIA, served as honoree sketchers. In front of a packed crowd in Tafel Hall, nine teams competed through two rounds, attempting to guess buildings from around the world drawn by the sketchers. Buildings included Fallingwater, Lincoln Center, the Barclays Center, the Catedral di Milano, London’s House of Parliament, and many more. Audience members had the opportunity to get in on the fun by tweeting their guesses. The first person to tweet the correct building won a prize.
After a heated tournament, STUDIOS Architecture took home the 2013 Guess-A-Sketch championship trophy. Other teams competing in the event included: Arenson Office Furnishings; Robert Silman Associates; Sciame Construction; Cerami and Associates; Gensler; Petty Burton Associates; Gilsanz, Murray, Steficek; and Macro Consultants. Foundation staff, volunteers, and board members are already looking forward to next year’s event!
The Center for Architecture Foundation promotes public understanding and appreciation of architecture and design through educational programs for K–12 students and teachers, families, and the general public. All funds raised through Guess-A-Sketch will help to subsidize the cost of these programs.
