This panel discussion will address the basics of Internet of Things (IoT) and Real Time Energy Management (RTEM) systems, incentive programs for implementation, current challenges, opportunities, and trends. Speakers will include designers, vendors, portfolio managers, and funding agencies involved in IoT/RTEM. They will discuss their work with brief case studies of new buildings and retrofits in the commercial, educational, and multifamily sectors of New York City.
Beyond near-term potential for reducing energy costs 15-30%, IoT/RTEM has the longer-term potential to help NYC meet 80×50 and improve resilience through optimizing building performance characteristics such as passive survivability.
