AIA New York and Classic Harbor Line have teamed up to offer daily boat tours of New York City.

Choose from five distinct tours, all hosted by members of AIA New York. Expert guides provide lively narration covering architecture and engineering landmarks from all eras of the city’s history, as well as current urban planning and environmental issues impacting urban waterfronts.

Boat tours leave from Chelsea Piers (Pier 62) at West 22nd Street and the Hudson River. Exact meeting location details are provided immediately upon purchase of tickets.

All AIA New York tour programming can also be booked privately for you and your office, clients, family, guests, school or anyone you’d like to entertain. Email tours@aiany.org to ask about a private booking.

AIANY Around Manhattan Architecture Tour

This 2-hour-and-45-minute cruise circumnavigates the island of Manhattan via the Hudson, East, and Harlem rivers, and is AIA New York's signature tour experience. Enjoy expert narration by an AIA New York guide as you explore the architecture, infrastructure, and urban planning of New York City. Tour highlights are thematically linked to illustrate the recent transformation of an industrial waterfront to one of booming real estate development, ecologically-driven landscape design, and resilient infrastructure.

Join us as we explore work by noted local and international architects, landscape architects, and engineers in Lower Manhattan, including ongoing work on the World Trade Center complex. Experience the transformation of the working waterfront in Brooklyn into a contemporary urban park and view the always-stunning Brooklyn Bridge from a whole new perspective.

Based on AIA New York’s signature Around Manhattan Architecture Tour, this 2-hour-and-45-minute full circumnavigation around Manhattan reveals the stories behind the iconic bridges and infrastructure that support the city’s architecture. As an archipelago, New York City is shaped by engineering marvels we take for granted everyday: bridges and tunnels, rail and roadways, power and water supply, and waste disposal systems. John Kriskiewicz, professor of architectural history and planning at Parsons, offers insights and historical anecdotes that bring the story of the city’s development and vital infrastructure to life.

See New York's famed Modern architecture, including the recently renovated United Nations headquarters complex, and works by Modern masters Louis Kahn and Marcel Breuer. AIANY Industrial Waterway Tour: Freshkills Park in Staten Island

This extended AIA New York tour travels to Staten Island and offers a limited "backstage pass" to experience the transformation of the region's former largest garbage landfill into today's Freshkills Park. The cruise will enter a network of tidal kills (or streams) to explore the unprecedented land reclamation project, nearly three times the size of Central Park. NYC Parks and AIA New York guides will provide insightful narration about cutting-edge landscape architecture and engineering, urban planning, and the industrial architecture and infrastructure of Staten Island's North West shore.
