On 08.29.16, Archtober 2016 kicked off in the Meatpacking District with a truckload of Coolhaus architecturally-inspired frozen treats. The Archtober team parked themselves in front of Samsung 837 and distributed ice cream sandwiches and Samsung gifts to followers of New York City’s month-long architecture and design festival. The interactive digital experience center, designed by Morris Adjmi Architects with interiors by Gensler, will open its doors to an architect-led tour of design enthusiasts on 10.01.16 as the first 2016 Building of the Day.

The cool flurry of Archtober activity went viral as satisfied participants shared their love of ice cream and architecture on Twitter and Instagram. Samsung 837, with its three-story selfie-projecting screen, Social Galaxy, an interactive Instagram installation, and a 360-degree selfie station, was the perfect place for followers to engage with Archtober and Samsung’s social platforms.

Subsequent Buildings of the Day, including raad studio’s Lowline Lab, Selldorf Architects’ David Zwirner Gallery, and Zaha Hadid Architects’ 520 West 28th Street, are quickly selling out! Follow Archtober’s websiteFacebook, and Twitter for more updates and information about the month’s events.

On 09.13.16, Archtober also organized a press tour about Classic Harbor Line’s Yacht Manhattan II. Members of the press had an opportunity to learn about Archtober events directly from the festival’s partners while taking in views of New York City from the water’s edge. Archtober thanks CHL and our event partners for a terrific evening.
