The Center for Architecture in conjunction with the American Institute of Architects New York is pleased to offer career discovery opportunities for high school students interested in learning more about the field of architecture.

The Center for Architecture’s Discover Architecture career exploration program will be held virtually in winter 2021 as a free, one-day conference on Friday, February 19 from 9:30 AM – 3:00 PM ET with a lunch break from 12:00 – 1:00 PM ET. The program will begin with an introduction from 9:30 – 10:00 AM, followed by a series of 50-minute presentations and workshop sessions led by architecture professionals. Sessions are designed to help high school students get a better sense of what it’s like to be an architect and will explore topics such as:

  • Career path: How to prepare for and apply to architecture school and options for paths of study
  • Collaborative process: How architects, clients, consultants, and contractors work together
  • Current design projects: Case studies illuminating how architects work through a design project from start to finish
  • Job site tours and more!

Morning and afternoon sessions will be different from each other, but students have the option of registering for only a half-day if their schedule does not allow them to attend the full day.

Full session details and links to access the program will be released via email to all registered students prior to the program.
