The Center for Architecture and AIANY welcomed architects, young professionals, and architecture enthusiasts to a fun-filled night of friendly banter and competition at this year’s Guess-A-Sketch, held on 05.13.16. Dozens of iconic buildings were sketched, and after three battling rounds, first time competitors from Robert A.M. Stern (RAMSA) won the Guess-A-Sketch trophy.
Charles Renfro, AIA, Diller Scofidio + Renfro, orchestrated the lively evening, as the Honoree Sketchers, Jonathan J. Marvel, FAIA, Marvel Architects; Ronnette Riley, FAIA, Ronnette Riley Architect; Paula Scher, Pentagram; and Dan Wood, FAIA, WORK Architecture Company, sketched for competing teams. Teams competing included Cerami & Associates, Ennead Architects, Gilsanz Murray Steficek, Sciame Construction LLC, Silman, and Studios Architecture. Center for Architecture also sponsored a team, and guests’ in the audience were randomly selected to join in on the fun. Audience members were encouraged to check out “The Sketch Shop,” where sketches from the evening were gathered, signed, and sold.
The funds raised through Guess‐A‐Sketch are critical to keeping our programs affordable and accessible. Thanks to our generous donors and the efforts of the Center for Architecture’s determined Host Committee, we raised over $100K to support K-12 design education programs. Through these efforts, we can continue to serve the 90 public school classrooms throughout the five boroughs and the 6,000+ students, teachers, and adults we instruct throughout the year locally.
Thank you to all who attended. We look forward to seeing you next year at Guess-A-Sketch 2017!
