As the summer sun rolls around, so does another Golf Classic! Every year, the Center for Architecture hosts its Annual Golf Classic, bringing together golfers from the architecture, engineering, construction, and real-estate communities for a wonderful day of golf, pickleball, and networking. On July 13, more than 100 professionals joined us at Quaker Ridge Golf Club in Scarsdale, NY to take part in the event and support our Learning & Engagement education initiatives. AIA New York and Center for Architecture Executive Director Jesse Lazar, Assoc. AIA, welcomed all of the players and thanked the day’s sponsors. This was also the third year of the Pickleball Tournament – 12 pickleball players turned up the heat on the courts as colleagues cheered them on.

The event was a tremendous success and raised over $200,000, providing funding for scholarships for students to participate in our design education programs and helping keep our programs affordable for New York City public schools. This year, we partnered again with the Metropolitan Golf Association (MGA) and their First Tee program, which seeks to create affordable and accessible golf facilities for young people from all backgrounds. We were thrilled to have two young golfers join us this year, hosted by LERA Consulting Engineers and Goetz Platzer, to learn about the building industry and enjoy the day on the green.
