Materials: Paper bag (any size), markers, scissors, glue or glue stick, various collage papers (construction paper, wrapping paper, magazines, cardboard scraps, etc.)
Step 1: Lay the paper bag flat on a table with the bottom of the bag at the top. The bottom of the bag will be the roof of the building.
Step 2: Cut paper into shapes to make doors, windows, and other building parts. Use our Illustrated Building Parts for ideas. You can fold paper or use thicker cardboard pieces to make important parts of the building stick out.
Step 3: Test out different ways to arrange your building parts, and glue them down once you’re happy with the design. Use markers to add details once your main pieces are in place.
Step 4: When you’re finished, open the paper bag so the building can stand up on its own. Place other paper bag buildings next to each other to form a streetscape!
