The Center for Architecture is thrilled to welcome Arthur Cohen, CEO and co-founder of LaPlaca Cohen, to the organization’s Board of Trustees.

At LaPlaca Cohen, a strategic marketing and communications firm serving cultural and creative organizations, Cohen consults to a wide range of creative organizations on audience development, communications and strategic planning initiatives. In 2017, AIA New York and the Center for Architecture worked with LaPlaca Cohen to identify strategic goals, objectives, and tactics to ensure the success and growth of the two organizations.

“With his extensive knowledge of design organizations, cultural institutions, and their audiences, Arthur will be a valuable addition to the Center for Architecture Board,” said AIANY and Center for Architecture Executive Director Benjamin Prosky, Assoc. AIA. “Having previously collaborated with AIA on a national level as well as with AIANY and the Center for Architecture on our recent strategic framework, he has a deep understanding of our organizations and is in a great position to advise us on our ambitions.”

Cohen also oversees LaPlaca Cohen’s landmark research project, Culture Track, the nation’s largest ongoing study tracking the shifting attitudes and behaviors of cultural audiences, which has been presented in over 30 cities around the U.S. A Canadian version of the study was presented in both Banff and Toronto in 2018.

Cohen is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard Business School and attended the London School of Economics. He is a Lecturer at Stanford University, where he teaches a course entitled “Outside In: The Changing Cultural Audience.”

In addition to serving on the Center for Architecture’s board, Cohen is currently a board member of NYC & Co. and the Provincetown Art Association and Museum.
