Architect Karen Braitmayer, FAIA, has been named the 2019 recipient of the prestigious AIA Whitney M. Young Jr Award. The Seattle-based architect has been recognized by the Institute for her contributions to inclusive, universal, and accessible design in architecture.

Join us for this celebratory event, where Braitmeyer will present her work, advocacy, and views on successful accessible design, fresh off receiving her award at the AIA Conference on Architecture in Las Vegas. The presentation will include Braitmayer’s own home, chosen as one of three inaugural projects in the “Accessibility is Beautiful” initiative, to be launched that evening by the Cerebral Palsy Foundation.

Following the presentation, a panel of accessibility advocates will respond to Braitmayer’s work and discuss the latest directions in accessible design.
